A genetic counselor is a person that has a masters degree in genetic counseling. They also study genetic diseases, and how it runs through a family. Also they will help family's with useful information about the risk of the disease. Genetic counselors also inform the family's of who might be at risk of the disease and discuss with them where they can get tested for the disease.
